CO Trip- Day 5

Good morning!

On Tuesday we had booked a jeep ride to Crystal City so we just spent a slow morning playing the river in Basalt near David's.  We may have gathered a few rocks to carry back to Iowa, but if that's illegal, then we may not have.  How about all them bandaids on Maddox's knees?
After lunch we drove up to Marble, CO, a town of about nothing.  A few houses, a few people, and a jeep tour is about all there is.  We thought the ride to the top of Aspen Mtn. in David's jeep was bumpy... Ha!  I thought poor Hadlee might get shaken baby syndrome from this ride.  It was ridiculous!  Three hours of hanging on tight, bouncing all over rocks and boulders, on this road just big enough for the jeep.  It was not relaxing, but it was fun.
This is the old mill at the end of the ride.  Worth it!

Hadlee missed out on the photos there.  She had finally decided sitting on my lap so I could hold her head tight to me wasn't such a bad idea and had fallen asleep.  After 5 days in Colorado she could nap through anything.
Then we bounced on up to Crystal City, where the miners used to live.  Nothing up here but a few old cabins.  In the summer families now live in those cabins, get their water from the mountain, have no electricity or entertainment, and travel down over 2 hours to Redstone to get supplies when they need them.  I'm not sure 4 months of that sounds like fun.  Maybe a couple weeks, but not 4 months.
