And the 2nd Time Sick

The poor girl was sick again! Or still is maybe. Yesterday and overnight she had a fever of 102*. She wouldn't sleep in her crib so I brought her to bed with me and she slept VERY restlessly. So everyone got sleep but me. About 4am I thought for sure it was higher, she was SO hot! So I took her temp and it was 98.6, guess she was hot because it had broken. And so from 4am to 6 when the alarm went off she slept great. Why couldn't this be my day off so we could sleep in together! Oh yeah, she's also got some diarrhea but nothing else really.

The strange kid doesn't like baby oatmeal! She like the rice box and yesterday I bought her mixed grains to try but she obviously didn't have much of an appetite this morning. Guess I get to eat all the oatmeal! That's what I had for breakfast today actually!

No pics today. I haven't taken any. Next time!

First Time Sick

Maddox was sick for the first time last weekend. It does seem to be old news now but I had no pictures to go with that. She got congested, had a sore throat, low fever, and then developed a slight rash on her chest. It all only lasted 2 or 3 days. The first night she woke up about every hour and I put more Vicks on her chest and she'd go back to sleep. By Sat. she was better and went to a softball tournament and did very well! It was about 10 degrees warmer than the weather said it was going to be which made the high about 96*. And she wouldn't nurse all day so I was worried about her hydration but she did fine. And when she got home she nursed like crazy. She hardly napped at all that day and was in a good mood all day! What a trooper!
I finally got Kabra to come up from Charlotte and visit yesterday. I haven't seen him since last summer when I ws just newly pregnant. So he got to meet the Jessi and Maddox. He did very well with Maddox! I figured he wouldn't hold her and would just look at her. But I kind of forced her upon him and he did well! Kabra with a baby is kind of a strange sight. She would just stare back at him in a kind of "who/or what are you" way. But she liked him and never cried.

Last night I took some naked pictures of Maddox before her bath. Her little bottom dimples are just so cute! The only time in her life that dimples in her bottom will be cute. No dimples in this pic, just take my word for it.I finally took her crib bumpers out and here's the problem with that. One night it was her leg sticking out and she was not happy about that. Here's a quick video of Maddox enjoying her Jumparoo. She still won't jump but at least she's forced to put some pressure on those lazy legs!

Finally!

Maddox can roll over! The first time she did it was on July 11 for her cousins, Matthew and Katherine. (Also her 5 month birthday!) She did it a few more times over the weekend and I finally got video of it yesterday. I can't believe how much she changes and grows up in just 5 months. She was so tiny and helpless just a short time ago and now she's rolling over, eating cereal (wanting to eat EVERYHING else), jabbering all the time, laughing and smiling constantly, and just showing her personality. Oh yeah, at 5 months she weighs 15 lbs and is wearing 6 or 6-9 month clothes. My big girl!

The Wheeler Family Reunion is now over. I didn't take a ton a pictures. I never think to use my camera much. But of course I have some of Maddox and her cousins. It was a nice weekend! Great weather and great family!

We went to the Children's Museum on Friday in Greensboro . . .

We took Maddox swimming for the first time. She didn't seem to mind at all. We splashed a little water on her face which didn't phase her. They wouldn't let us use a flotation device for her so I'd like to take her again and see how she is when she's not in our arms.

Just some morning cousin photos . . .

4th of July and More

The weekend started out great! The morning of the 4th we went to Kernersville where Jeremy ran a 5k. He finally has started running again on a regular basis since he's done with school. He's getting back in shape! He finished in 19:02, 18th overall, and won his age division. As strange as it sounds, I forget how much I love going to races. Not DOING them, just watching and cheering. I'm glad he's back to it.
Maddox thought this thing was pretty strange. And this is why we need a house with a basement/rec room. A place to put these things . . .
After the race we walked up the street to watch the parade. I can't wait until Maddox is older so she can get the candy. It seems a little improper for me to try to get some, but I wanted a piece or two! I guess I'll wait a couple more years. That night we went to Lewisville to hear music and watch the fireworks. We ended up sitting a long way from the car which worried me a bit in case Maddox got scared of all the noise. She was a little worried or confused at first as you can tell in the picture but she sat and watched them all without getting fussy at all.

Then the weekend got interesting. Maddox got a rash on her legs on Saturday which went away in a few hours so I didn't think much of it. I figured she came into something on her Daddy's shirt after he went and played softball that hurt her delicate skin. It showed up on her bottom too but I treated it with diaper ointment and it went away too. On Monday morning she had some blisters on her toes so I called the doc and went in and she had hand, foot, and mouth disease. She never ran a fever and Monday was her fussiest day which wasn't too bad. When I got to work on Tuesday I found out she got it from Camden and Morgan. She's almost over it though. Her blisters are almost gone and she's pretty happy.

Poor Jessi got stung by a bee on Saturday too. She was playing frisbee with me and she suddenly dropped it and ran around then ran to me, flipping her head, and pawing at her ear. I inspected and found a stinger stuck on the underside of her ear flap. I pulled it out and went to the store to buy her some Benadryl. It was inflamed and bothering her a lot but the Benadryl took effect about 30 min. later and she felt much better. Can you tell which ear it is? Poor thing.

Also on Saturday I made the decision to take Hailey to the vet to be put to sleep. She has been peeing outside the litter box for years now. We've treated UTIs, put her on Prozac, gave her a separate litter box, tried different litter, but nothing was working. She just can't handle her anxiety, which then causes UTIs. What put it over the top was that she started peeing on the carpet instead of the wood or in her own special litter box and now the house smells. Can't have that. I took her on Monday after Maddox's doc appointment. It was very sad and hard to put a "healthy" cat to sleep.

And so I'd post a picture of her in her memory but I don't seem to have one which leads me to my next problem. I had put all the pictures from 2004-2006 on a disk and erased them from my hard drive and put the disk with all the other disks in the desk. I cannot find that disk anywhere! No proof of the Jeremy and I meeting, dating, travelling, getting married, or our honeymoon, let alone all the other pictures. I praying it shows up somewhere. I just don't know where!

So to end on a better note . . . Maddox is enjoying Jenn's Bumbo a little more. Still not enough to spend $35 on one. But she's at least sitting up more in it. And the Wheeler Family Reunion starts tomorrow so I'm excited about that! We'll have lots of pictures after that!

My girls

Jessi is so good with Maddox. She'll lay right by her even if Maddox is crying and stay completely relaxed. I've got good girls!

We bought our jogging stroller finally. It was our anniversary present to each other. We tend to buy something both of us want to use or for the house rather than flowers/jewelry/stuff. One year it was a storm door (which we installed together, how romantic). This year it's the stroller. It's so nice to be able to jog with her so now I don't have to wait for Jeremy to be home to watch her while I go out. Maddox seems to really like it too.
And it compliments her eyes . . .
And lastly, baby Grady is catching up! He doesn't look so tiny now! He's about 11 lbs and she's almost 14. Here they are on a "playdate".
