The Great Pumpkin

We took a trip to the pumpkin patch a few days ago. Here's some pictures of the event (okay, a lot of pictures, but they all have their attributes!):
And then yesterday, when it was 70 degrees outside we carved the pumpkin. As usual she was very interested in studying the gunk. Her interest was short though, she had a cold and small fever so she was quickly ready to quit.

Last trip "home"

We went home last weekend for my Mom and Dad's moving away party. We saw tons of their friends from St. Joe at the party and they all got to meet Maddox for the first and probably last time. It was nice to see everyone again. And Maddox did great with all the strangers, and this trip, even with her Grandma G.!

Maddox didn't want to see anyone on the plane ride to KC. She slept all of the second flight.Maddox got her only ride on Papa's tractor. He's selling it, he doesn't need it in FL.
The silly cousins all together: M and Aunt Suzy:This was back at home tonight. I had spaghetti so I gave her some to play with. She didn't try to eat it last time, but tonight she certainly did. Not exactly what I had in mind, but she didn't choke once.

She's sleeping . . . I'm sitting down to read a good book before Private Practice starts. Quick, before she wakes again!

M's silliness

I'm always wearing my towel on my head when I get out of the shower which is intriguing to Maddox. I think when she was smaller it used to scare her, she always looked worried and like she didn't know me. Now she finds it quite amusing so I thought I'd give her one too.Maddox is real quick to get on her stomach and hands and knees when I leave her to play with her toys in the living room. But she still can go nowhere but backwards. Eventually I hear her fussing and this is what I find:

This week for M

We haven't been up to much, but of course I have a couple cute pictures.

Our neighbor, Amanda, loaned us this toy . . . it converts into a walker for when Maddox figures out that she can pick up and move her feet while standing. Right now she sits on it and plays with the toys on it and then leans way too far to reach another toy and falls off face first. Used with supervision . . .

Last Thursday we went to a Halloween themed concert band concert at Bethabara park so Maddox sat in her bumble bee costume/stroller. I think she was excited about going:

The family on our blanket under the stars:

What's she into now? Well, Elmo, not eating her food because she's figured out she'd much rather have real food, and rolling all over her crib and now pushing the buttons on her mobile. Oh yeah, she fell off a bed for the first time. Not under my care by the way! She was staying with my friend Jennifer, napping on the guest bed, surrounded by pillows. When she woke up she must have rolled onto her tummy, gone the only direction she knows, backwards, all the way to the foot of the bed and a little crooked off the side. Jenn said she found her just sitting on the floor facing the bed and crying. She didn't hurt anything, just scared I think. Just wait until Jenn sends little Grady over here next time! hehe

We fly back to MO on Thursday to hang out with my family before my parents move. I hope Maddox sleeps on the flight the whole way home. We leave right at bedtime so she should. Until we return . . .Chow!

Getting bigger

My gorgeous girl is getting so big! I hardly notice how physically big she is since I'm almost always the one carrying her around. Jeremy had her naked after a bath across the room from me and I just looked and said "Geez, she's so long! She's big!" So I measured her again for the fun of it and she's still in the 95-97% for length. I thought over the past month she's been becoming more average. Guess not. She weighs about 17.5 pounds. She's about 28.5 inches long and her carseat is only supposed to allow for 29 inches. So much for that lasting a year. We'll buy a new one in the next month or so. She's still not crawling forward. She pushing herself all over backwards and around in circles to get to stuff. She gets up on her knees and rocks but hasn't figured out the rest yet. Sometimes she even gets up on her hands and toes and makes a big bridge. Haven't caught that one on camera yet.
She's getting better at standing. She doesn't pull up to this, we put her there. She's still very wobbly about it so I'm always within arms reach to catch her.We went to the Chiefs game in Charlotte yesterday. We didn't buy tickets until we got down there and ended up getting row 9 end zone tickets for $50 a piece (face value $78). We did that an hour before the game though and probalby could have gotten a much better deal if we'd waited until right before the game. There were tons of scalpers right around the stadium still. Oh well, now we know. I thought I'd hate sitting in the end zone but it wasn't so bad. I've never sat that close so it was kinda neat to see them up close in action. You do end up watching the jumbotron a lot more though to see what the yardage gains were.
Maddox liked it, even though it was very loud down there and pretty hot, for the first 3 quarters. At almost the 4th quarter she, like the Chiefs, gave up. Well, actually I think she lasted longer than the Chiefs did.
