Week of Weather!

On Monday it was 30 degrees with 5 inches of snow and 5 days later it was 80 degrees. What fun weather! This is a rare scene in Winston-Salem. The last time we got this amount of snow was 4 winters ago, our first winter here. Usually it snows a dusting to 1/2 inch a couple of times a winter. Maddox got to go sledding for the first time. Yes, we went on our neighbor's driveway. There aren't any hills in our neighborhood and I wasn't going to go far from home with a 1 year old when it was 25 degrees and ice on the roads. No one even owns sleds so all the neighbors had to share one neighbors' set of two. Here's a video of it, don't blink!
Maybe you can't see it but she scratched her nose and upper lip while I pulled the sled in the street. I shouldn't have wiped the blood off first, then you would have believed me. I U-turned back towards home over the ice and she didn't stay in the sled. Sherolled right out and got her face planted on the ice and scratched a bit. Poor thing. She recovered quickly though. . .

. . .after a little lovin' from Mom.

So then I pulled her around the not bumpy front yard and she figured out how to hold on. Her friend Grady came out and rode with her and it was so cute. Unfortunately Grady's mom took those pictures and hasn't sent them on yet. He was in a snowsuit just like the kid in A Christmas Carol and couldn't sit up. He had to lay his head in Maddox's lap and cried the whole time. It was hilarious!
After all the snow melted it got beautifully warm! We spent all weekend outside hanging out. Maddox loves to use her walker and walk up and down the street, and up and down, and up and down. We played basketball and dug around the yard and played with all the neighbors. Today we went hiking and to a park.

Dad got to do the work today carting Maddox around. I had a pulled muscle or I would have done it. He whined enough about his back maybe I should have done it anyway. Then I could whine (as if I haven't already with the muscle thing). Luckily Maddox loves being outdoors and is happy with whoever's back she's on.
Mom, get me out of this thing, I'm dangling . . .:

We had a picnic at the park after our hike.

Some play time after lunch.

Look at these two cuties! She wasn't quite comfortable being in this tube. We never could get her to crawl through it. I'm not sure if the sand in it hurt her knees or if it just spooked her out.

Check out her adorable tiny crocs. Amazingly enough she walks (with the walker still) in them pretty well, no tripping. These are the first hard sole shoes she's worn and the only summery shoes she has right now.

Not so sure about this slide mom! (Also notice, Suzy, that she's wearing my favorite hand-me-down! So cute! I love paisleys!)

Maddox usually takes a nap about 11 for less than 2 hours. Today we were out until 2 and she fell asleep immediately in the car on the way home and took a 3 hour nap. Jessi is just about as wiped out as Maddox. We also spent time this weekend teaching Maddox how to dribble a basketball and working in Mommy's flowerpots. Apparently maddox's job is to throw dirt OUT of them to the ground. Great help. It was a great day to be outside!

Oh yeah, I guess Maddox's first "word" is uh-oh. That's all she'll say and she uses it in the right ways. Dropped her cup? "Uh-oh" Fell down? "Uh-oh" Mommy caught me eating dog food? "Uh-oh"
